Iberian Necropolis of Tútugi

Its population lived on Cerro del Real, while burial grounds spread across the nearby hills. The archaeological complex also includes a sanctuary south of the settlement. The necropolis is divided into three areas. Areas I and II, the largest, lie north of the ancient settlement, on the right bank of the Orce River. Area III is in Cañada del Metro, about five hundred metres east of the settlement.
Simpler burials were documented there, with funerary urns placed in niches and hollows. Our route focuses on Area I, the largest, which is itself divided into three sectors. We will visit the western sector, called Ia, where tombs 22, 21, 50 and 20 are located. The central sector, Ib, and the eastern sector, Ic, where the large tumuli 75 and 76 stand out, are not included in this route.
We will not visit Areas II and III either; the Riego Nuevo path separates Area II from Area I. The Iberians practised cremation and placed the remains in containers, accompanied by objects and offerings. Differences between the tombs help researchers investigate inequalities in that society. We will finish at tomb 20, with an augmented reality experience about sunlight entering the tomb.
The route is designed to take approximately one hour, including the experience and time for photographs.
